Free, with nothing to install. Works in any modern browser.

Three steps to Sinhala

1. Add a font. Use the upload button in the Files panel and pick a Sinhala .ttf or .otf. Monograph puts it in the project's fonts/ folder.

2. Name it in your document. Use the family name exactly as the font calls itself, with Sinhala as a fallback after your Latin font:

#set text(font: ("Libertinus Serif", "Noto Serif Sinhala"), lang: "si")

3. Write. Type or paste Unicode Sinhala. The preview shows the page as it will print, and Export PDF gives you the file to share.

Questions

Why do I see boxes instead of Sinhala letters?

The font you named isn't available to Typst. Upload a Sinhala font file and make sure it is in the project's fonts/ folder, then use its exact family name in #set text(font: ...).

Which fonts work for Sinhala?

Any Unicode Sinhala font in .ttf or .otf form, such as Noto Sans Sinhala, Noto Serif Sinhala or Iskoola Pota (check its licence before sharing documents with the font file).

Does Typst shape Sinhala correctly?

Typst shapes complex scripts with HarfBuzz-compatible shaping, so conjuncts and vowel signs combine as they should with a proper Unicode font.

Can I mix English and Sinhala?

Yes. List fonts in order, for example font: ("Libertinus Serif", "Noto Serif Sinhala"): Latin text uses the first, and Sinhala falls back to the second.

Write your first Sinhala page.
